Baseball Prepares for Battle of the Boulevard

First of Two Meetings this Season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Belmont Baseball will head just a few miles down the road to Lipscomb Univeristy to meet on the baseball diamond. The Bruins are looking to make a statement away from home and carry momentum into another important early-season test against their crosstown counterpart.

Belmont enters the match up focused on playing clean, aggressive baseball. The Bruins have emphasized strong pitching performances and timely hitting as key points of focus heading into the contest. Establishing rhythm on the mound and controlling the strike zone will be critical in setting the tone against a Lipscomb lineup that traditionally thrives on pressure and execution.

Offensively, Belmont will look to stay disciplined at the plate and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Situational hitting—moving runners, winning two-out at-bats, and creating traffic on the bases—has been an area of emphasis in recent practices. The Bruins know rivalry games often come down to small details, and manufacturing runs could prove to be the difference. Belmont enters the matchup hitting .289 as a team through the first seven games, collecting 67 hits and 34 runs. Brody Langlotz has paced the lineup with a .462 average, 12 hits, and a team-best .615 slugging percentage among regular starters. Noah Burnham is batting .455 in limited action, while Charlie Davis has added 12 hits and five runs scored as an everyday presence. Cavan McMeans has provided run production with seven RBI and three doubles, ranking among the team leaders in extra-base hits

Defensively, Belmont aims to remain sharp and fundamentally sound. Limiting extra bases, turning routine plays into outs, and maintaining communication across the field will be essential against a team that looks to exploit any lapse in focus. Belmont owns a .971 team fielding percentage, turning three double plays while limiting opponents to just seven total errors forced defensively.Cavan McMeans and Landon Godsey are among several Bruins with perfect fielding percentages in multi-game action. On the mound, Tate Marland has been a key early contributor, going 2–0 with a 2.38 ERA and 12 strikeouts across 11.1 innings. Belmont pitchers have combined for 52 strikeouts in 57 innings, highlighted by strong relief outings from Shane Duke (7 strikeouts, no runs allowed) and McKale Stevenson (7 strikeouts, 1.93 ERA).

While records and statistics can shape the narrative, rivalry match ups often take on a life of their own. Energy in the dugout, execution in key moments, and the ability to handle momentum swings will all play a role as the Bruins and Bisons renew their annual battle.

First pitch is set for 3:05 p.m. at Ken Dugan Field.
