NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Student-athlete, Kate Virtel, has distinguished herself through exceptional academic performance, athletic success, and a strong commitment to service, earning multiple honors during the 2024–25 academic year.
Virtel earned a place on the Dean's List for five semesters at Belmont University, demonstrating sustained academic excellence throughout their collegiate career. Her dedication to balancing rigorous coursework with athletic responsibilities was further recognized with selection to the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team, an honor awarded to student-athletes who achieve excellence both in competition and in the classroom. She was also an honoree of the MVC Scholar-Athlete team for the 2025 season.
In addition, Virtel was named to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Honor Roll for the 2023–24 season and received the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, one of the conference's highest academic distinctions. These accolades highlight a consistent commitment to academic achievement while competing at the Division I level.
Beyond academics and athletics, she has made a meaningful impact through community engagement and service. They are actively involved with the Nashville Dolphins Club and Young Life Capernaum Club, organizations focused on building relationships and creating inclusive experiences for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through this involvement, Kate has demonstrated leadership, compassion, and a dedication to serving others.
Her commitment to service also extends internationally. As part of the Belmont Athletics Mission Trip to Costa Rica, Virtel participated in outreach efforts aimed at supporting local communities through service, relationship-building, and cultural engagement, further reflecting Belmont Athletics' emphasis on global perspective and servant leadership.
