Baseball Prepares for Weekend Series Against Wofford

Looking to Carry Momentum From Mid-Week Victory

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Belmont Bruins baseball return to the diamond this weekend as they host the Wofford Terriers for a three-game series beginning Friday. First pitch is scheduled for Friday afternoon at E.S. Rose Park.

Belmont enters the weekend with a 5-8 overall record, looking to build momentum as the Bruins continue their early-season slate. The Bruins have shown offensive balance through the first 13 games, posting a .270 team batting average with 113 hits and 71 runs scored.

Several Bruins have fueled the offense early in the season. Charlie Davis leads Belmont with a .357 batting average, recording 20 hits, nine runs scored and nine RBIs while appearing in all 13 games. Davis has also added four doubles and two triples while playing a key role defensively in the infield.

Jake Maddox who returned to the lineup on Wednesday, has been another consistent bat, hitting .344 with 11 hits and eight runs scored while adding three triples and five RBIs in nine games.

Brody Langlotz provides power in the middle of the lineup with a .326 average, two home runs and seven RBIs.

Landon Godsey has also delivered offensively, batting .326 with six doubles and a home run, driving in a team-high 12 RBIs through the first 13 games.

Defensively, the Bruins have been steady with a .971 team fielding percentage, turning six double plays through the first 13 contests. Several Bruins—including Cavan McMeans, Brody Langlotz, and Landon Godsey have yet to commit an error this season.

Belmont's offense has been especially productive in the early innings, scoring 23 runs in the second inning this season the most of any inning for the Bruins. The team has also plated 16 runs in the fifth inning, highlighting Belmont's ability to generate offense throughout the lineup.

The Bruins have shown resilience in close contests, remaining undefeated in one-run games while producing several late-game rallies during the early portion of the season.
