Baseball Prepares for Rematch Against UT Martin

Bruins Hope to Spilt the Series at Home

NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Coming off one of its most complete weekends of the season, Belmont returns home with some momentum after a successful road series against Valparaiso. The Bruins not only picked up key conference wins, but also recorded their first shutout of the season on Saturday.

The shutout victory was anchored by a dominant outing from Zane Brown, who delivered 8.0 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out six. His command and efficiency set the tone, while the bullpen closed the door to secure the Bruins' first zero on the board this season. That performance highlighted a pitching staff that has continued to develop, giving Belmont a strong foundation heading into the midweek.

Offensively, Belmont found its rhythm in Valparaiso, delivering in high-leverage situations and responding when challenged. The Bruins showcased their ability to string together quality at-bats, using both power and situational execution to generate runs late in games. That same offensive confidence was evident in the last meeting with UT Martin, where Belmont controlled the tempo from the start.

Key Highlights of the Last Meeting

  • Charlie Davis set the tone with a 4-for-5 performance, scoring twice and driving in two runs from the leadoff spot.
  • Nate Webb delivered a pivotal home run that swung momentum in Belmont's favor and helped separate late.
  • Landon Godsey added a key home run, providing another big extra-base hit that fueled the Bruins' offensive surge.
  • Belmont's lineup stayed consistent top-to-bottom, stringing together quality at-bats and capitalizing on scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Alongside Webb and Davis, Belmont continues to rely on its offensive core to drive production, while the pitching staff looks to build on its breakthrough performance over the weekend. Belmont's pitching staff has been improving significantly on limiting free passes and avoiding big innings as the season progresses and they continue to put up zeroes on the scoreboard providing opportuinites for the offesne to take control of the game.

With confidence from a strong weekend, a shutout victory reinforcing its pitching potential, and a proven blueprint from the last meeting with UT Martin, Belmont enters the midweek matchup focused on sustaining momentum and continuing its upward trajectory.
