Baseball Prepares to Host Bradley for Weekend Series

Bruins Are Currently in the Hunt in Recent MVC Standings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont returns home this weekend set to host Bradley for a crucial Missouri Valley Conference series at E.S. Rose Park, looking to build momentum after a dominant midweek victory on Tuesday.

The Bruins enter the weekend at 17-28 overall and 7-8 in conference play, coming off an emphatic 8-5 win over UT Martin in a game shortened due to lightning. Belmont's offense erupted for 12 hits, including five home runs, showcasing the kind of production that has the team trending upward heading into an important stretch of MVC competition.

Tuesday's performance highlighted the depth and power throughout Belmont's lineup. Charlie Davis continues to anchor the offense, leading the team with a .351 batting average along with 66 hits, 14 doubles, and six home runs. Landon Godsey has been a consistent run producer, driving in a team-high 36 RBIs while adding eight home runs and a .301 average. Freshman outfielder Brady Holbrook is currently batting .313 and First baseman Jake Maddox who is batting .287 and has seven home runs on the season both provide additional middle-of-the-order power.

Belmont's ability to generate extra-base hits has been a defining factor this season, as the Bruins have totaled 53 home runs and 66 doubles as a team. When the offense is clicking, Belmont has proven it can compete with anyone in the conference.

On the mound, the Bruins will look for consistency as they enter the weekend. McKale Stevenson has been a bright spot, posting a 2.43 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. Ridge Harvey has also contributed in multiple roles, tallying 41 strikeouts, while Zane Brown has been effective out of the bullpen with a 4.85 ERA across 39 innings. Belmont's pitching staff will be tested against a Bradley lineup known for putting pressure on opposing defenses.

Defensively, Belmont has been solid overall with a .968 fielding percentage, turning 24 double plays on the season. Clean defense and limiting free passes will be key areas of focus as the Bruins aim to carry over momentum from Tuesday's win.

This weekend's series carries added importance as Belmont sits just below .500 in conference play. With the MVC standings tightening, each game presents an opportunity for the Bruins to climb the leaderboard and strengthen their postseason positioning.
