Baseball Prepares to Travel to Knoxville For Last Mid Week Game

Bruins Will Be Facing Second SEC Team This Season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After wrapping up its home schedule over the weekend, Belmont University heads east Tuesday night for a challenging midweek contest against Tennessee at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Belmont enters the matchup at 19-32 overall following an emotional Senior Day weekend at E.S. Rose Park. The Bruins are now entering the final week of Missouri Valley Conference play with hopes to spoil some of the seeding in the MVC standings. The Bruins will look to carry this momentum into one of their toughest nonconference tests of the season.

Offensively, Belmont has continued to receive production throughout the lineup. Charlie Davis leads the Bruins with a .336 batting average while also pacing the team in hits (71), doubles (15), triples (5), and runs scored (46). Davis has been one of the MVC's most consistent all-around hitters throughout the season and enters Tuesday with eight home runs and 38 RBI.

Landon Godsey has provided major power in the middle of the order, batting .304 with 19 doubles, nine home runs, and a team-high 41 RBI. Godsey and Davis have anchored an offense that has produced 58 home runs this season.

The Bruins have also received strong contributions from Jake Maddox, who is hitting .287 with 14 doubles and seven home runs, while Cavan McMeans has added 54 hits and 30 RBI on the year. Behind the plate, Mike Sprockett has continued to be a steady veteran presence with seven home runs and 24 RBI.

On the mound, Belmont will likely rely heavily on its bullpen in the midweek contest. Andrew Perry will start this Tuesday for the Bruins and has produced good outings for the Bruins in their mid week contests.

Tuesday's game presents another opportunity for Belmont to test itself against elite competition. Tennessee enters the matchup as one of the top programs in the country and has consistently ranked among the nation's leaders offensively and on the mound throughout the season.
