KANSAS CITY, Mo. - - Belmont University women's soccer earned a College Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches for their classroom accomplishments during the 2025-26 academic year.
The Bruins were one of 451 programs to receive the award. Belmont was also one of 175 schools that had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
The United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies.
Belmont achieved a 3.60 team GPA for the 2025-26 academic year; the team posted a very impressive 3.749 GPA during the Fall 2025 semester.
The Bruins excelled in the classroom during Belmont Head Coach Kelsey Cameron's second year of leadership. Belmont garnered six MVC Scholar-Athletes including
Kate Virtel, and six College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections including
Sydney Jones. Furthermore,
Anna Samuel,
Kennedy Wise,
Laken Whittington,
Olivia Walker, and
Lillie Tabor were selected to both the MVC Scholar-Athlete team and earned All-District Selections.
Tabor and Virtel have the honor of wearing captains armbands this season for the Bruins as they look to lead Belmont both on the pitch and in the classroom.
The Bruins return to action Thursday at home against Chattanooga. Match time is set for 5 p.m. at E.S. Rose Park.
