NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Belmont University Women's Soccer returns home for the home conference opener in their Mental Health Awareness match.
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
What's Bruin
- Belmont Women's Soccer remains ranked first in the Ohio Valley Conference for shot accuracy as well as corner kicks per game for the third consecutive week
- In the conference opener the Bruins defeated SEMO 1-0 in double overtime
- This was the fourth overtime appearance for the Bruins this season
- After the Belmont win against SEMO Maci Pekmezien leads the OVC in game winning goals and in the top 75 in the nation
- Pekmezien scored her second golden goal for the Bruins in the third minute of double overtime
- A beautiful pass was sent to Pekmezien by Summer Curtis at the top of the box, Peckmezien took a single touch and shot sending the ball past the Redhawks goalie
- Andrea Leitner recorded her second shutout for the Bruins earning OVC Goalkeeper of the week, the first Bruin weekly honor of the season
- The Bruins recorded 9 shots, 6 saves, and 4 corner kicks against SEMO
- The Bruins competed last Thursday against Jacksonville State they entered their third overtime appearance of the season and tallied their first tie 1-1 of the season
- Avery Nowak sent a corner kick into the center of the box, Loren House was able to get a foot on it to send it past the Gamecocks goalie to score the only goal of the match for the Bruins
- Belmont recorded 10 shots on the night, 8 saves, and 6 corner kicks
- The Bruins lead the Governors 7-6-3 in the all-time series matchup
- In their most recent matchup, the Bruins claimed victory the Austin Peay 1-0 in 2020
- The sole goal of the match was scored by now graduated Julie Garst assisted by Erin Patterson
- This was the Bruins third consecutive shutout match of the 2021 spring season
