Women's Soccer Releases 2023 Schedule

SEC Opponents, Area Rivals and MVC Competition Highlight Slate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University head women's soccer coach Kelsey Cameron released the program's 2023 schedule Thursday.

The schedule features a blend of high-level competition and area rivals as the Bruins enter season two in the Missouri Valley Conference.

"I think the schedule will give our staff a good idea of where we are as a program," Cameron said. "We have some very strong non-conference opponents to help us prepare for Missouri Valley Conference matches in September. Our philosophy will always be to play a strong non-conference schedule featuring SEC programs, ranked teams and local rivals. We are ambitious and want to test and push ourselves as we build for the future. We have a fun group; a group our staff has enjoyed getting to know during the spring and summer, and we are excited for the upcoming season!"

Following home exhibitions vs. Western Kentucky and Tennessee Tech, regular season play opens Aug. 17 against ASUN side North Alabama at E.S. Rose Park.

Three days later, Belmont begins a stretch of three consecutive road matches at Middle Tennessee. Senior Anna Sweeney scored as the Bruins and Blue Raiders played to a 1-1 draw last season.

Belmont then faces former OVC rival Eastern Kentucky Aug. 24, and wraps up the month with an Aug. 27 date at Vanderbilt.

The Bruins and Commodores last faced each other in the regular season in 2009.

September opens with a home match vs. Horizon League contender Cleveland State.

A trip up I-65 brings an annual match with Western Kentucky; the Bruins earned a point against the Hilltoppers last season.

Belmont faces SEC stalwart – and Cameron's alma mater – Kentucky for the first time in program history Sept. 7.

The road swing concludes Sept. 10 at defending Southern Conference champion Chattanooga; the Bruins have won six consecutive matches in the series.

Missouri Valley Conference plays begins Sept. 17 as Belmont welcomes Indiana State to Nashville.

After defeating rival Murray State, 3-1, last season, the Bruins face the Racers Sept. 21 at E.S. Rose Park.

Other notable conference matches include a Sept. 24 date at MVC tournament champion Missouri State, Oct. 15 at defending MVC champion regular season champion Valparaiso and Senior Day Oct. 22 vs. Drake.

The 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship will be held Oct. 26-Nov. 5 at host sites.
