NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University men's cross country team had a strong showing on Saturday morning at the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana.
In their return to the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, the Bruins claimed second place in a field of 18 teams with 60 total points, finishing only behind Purdue.
Zac Shaffer was Belmont's top finisher, crossing the line in 24:23.9, earning sixth place. Ethan Hammer quickly followed in eighth, with a time of 24:25.7.
Joel Wolf, Carter Cheeseman, Nick Mota and Drew Brill were the next four Bruins to finish, all inside the top 20.
Jacob Ricks earned 25th with a time of 24:45.3 and Kevin Vanderkolk followed in 24:46.8.
Zach Brill secured 49th in 25:10.6.
Brayden Kennedy, Noah Epker, and Gavin Morrow rounded out a successful day in Indiana for the Bruins.
Four Belmont runners took the course in Nashville at the Michael Pretorius Invitational, with Nathan Katic being the top finisher for the Bruins.
