NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Belmont University Men's cross country program has announced the signing of four runners who will join the team for the 2025 cross country season.Â
Charley Townsend joins the Bruins from Goshen, KY. While attending North Oldham High School, Townsend was a highly decorated runner with a fourth-place finish at the Kentucky State Championship and a ninth-place finish at Nike Southeast Regionals.Â
Townsend holds a personal best of 4:19.09 in the 1600m and 9:17.04 in the 3200m.
Noah Mathews comes to Belmont from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, KY. He finished eighth at the Kentucky State Championship as a senior and second as a sophomore.Â
Mathews has a personal best time of 4:20.25 in the 1600m and 9:09.19 in the 3200m.
Aaron Richter joins the squad from Elkhart High School in Elkhart, IN. Richter finished fifth at the Indiana State Championship as a junior and holds a personal best time of 9:18.20 in the 3200m.Â
Aaron will be joined by his high school teammate, Max Malloy next season. Malloy had a strong senior season with an eighth-place finish at the Indiana State Championship and 15th at the Footlocker Midwest Regionals.Â
Malloy holds a personal best of 4:15.36 in the 1600m and 9:12.67 in the 3200m.
"Next year we will lean heavily on this freshmen class with six of our top seven runners graduating from the program," commented director of cross country and track and field Jeff Langdon. "We will be very young next year, but this group will be a great foundation for our program over the next four years. I'm really looking forward to working with all four of these guys beginning next August."
