NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Completing its fourth meet of the 2024 season, the Belmont University men's track and field team had another impressive outing at Vanderbilt's Indoor Music City Challenge this weekend.
Top Performing Bruins
Trey Collins kicked off a good start to the weekend by setting personal bests in the long jump and pole vault. In long jump, Collins jumped 6.90m (22' 7.75"). In vault action, Collins cleared 4.85m (15' 11") topping his previous record of 4.62m.
On Saturday, Jackson Grant set a new personal best mark in the shot put. Grant launched 16.37m (53' 8.5") which tops his previous best of 16.32m.Â
Kevin Vanderkolk set a program record in the 800m as he claimed first place. Vanderkolk crossed the finish line in a blazing time of 1:50.97, a personal best. Vanderkolk holds a top three spot in the Missouri Valley Conference in his event.
Carter Cheeseman set a program record in the 3000m, claiming ninth place overall. Cheeseman crossed the line in 8:04.45, topping the previous record held since 2020. Cheeseman sits inside the top five of the MVC in the 3000m.
Austin Belle claimed a new program record after speeding through the 400m dash in 47.54. The previous record in the 400m had stood since 2019. Belle sits at the top of the MVC in his event.Â
Next Up
The Bruins will have one week off before returning to action at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships held in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday and Monday Feb. 25 and 26.
