NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Completing its fourth meet of the 2024 season, the Belmont University women's track and field team had another positive showing at Vanderbilt's Indoor Music City Challenge this weekend.
Top Performing Bruins
Logan Gray claimed a program record and set a huge personal best in shot put on Saturday. The junior from Spartanburg, South Carolina launched 15.72m (51' 7") for a first place finish. Gray's performance places her firmly atop the Missouri Valley Conference standings.
Michella Diebenow set a new program record in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.68 in the qualifying rounds. The previous record in the 60m hurdles had stood since 2009.
Brooke Garter headlined for the distance crew in the 3000m, claiming seventh overall with a program record time of 9:29.73. Garter's time places her inside the top five of the MVC.
Grace Litzinger also topped the previous record in the 3000m that she set at the Vanderbilt Invitational earlier this season (9:36.15). The Fayetteville, Arkansas native crossed the finish line in 9:30.08, right behind Garter.
Brooke Stromsland claimed fifth place and set a personal best in the 3000m (unseeded) with a time of 9:50.26. Stromsland was one of eight members of the women's distance crew that notched personal bests this weekend.
Next Up
The Bruins will have one week off before returning to action at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships held in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday and Monday Feb. 25 and 26.
