NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University Men's Track & Field team competed in the Commodore Winter Challenge at Vanderbilt University over the weekend, their first indoor meet of the season.
The Bruins were represented in six different events, alongside athletes from Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Arkansas State, Lipscomb, Austin Peay, and more.
Senior Vince Flegeance set a new program record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.96 seconds, edging out Caleb Corprew's seven-year record set at the 2018 OVC Indoor Championships. The time earned him a spot in the finals, where he finished 5th.
Junior
Drew Brill placed sixth in the 5K running a time of 15:09.69.
In the shot put
Lleyton Penn placed 10th and in his first indoor meet as a Bruin,
Garrett Connor placed 13th.
Tezz Dozier was the leading Belmont finisher in the 300m, earning 18th place out of 41 runners.
Freshman
Gabe Heck made his debut by placing 13th in the pole vault.
The team returns to action next month in the Vanderbilt Invitational at Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility on Jan. 16-17.
