NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University men's cross country team gets the 2025 season going Friday Aug. 29 at the Belmont Opener, hosted at Percy Warner Park in Nashville.
The Belmont Opener is an annual tradition that kicks off the Bruins' season and hosts several teams from around the southeast.
The Bruins ranked 11th in the South Region of the U.S Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) final cross country regional rankings last season and look to get off to a fast start.
The men's 5K will begin at 8:45 a.m.
What's Bruin
- The men placed first in the Belmont Opener last year.
- The Bruins have won eight out of the last nine Belmont Openers.
- The Bruins are a largely new team this year, made up of seven returners and eight newcomers, including transfers Coleman Cronk (Florida State) and Sam Shuman (UT Martin).
- Andrew Hammel, Matty Mackay, and Drew Brill all finished in the top five last year, each with an average mile time under 5 minutes.
