NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University men's cross country team earned an 8th place finish in a highly competitive landscape at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Bruins faced off against top regional competitors and came out on top against Florida State and Miami, among other schools.
Senior
Andrew Hammel led the Belmont team, placing 29th with a time of 24:22.0. Senior
Zach Brill soon followed, finishing at 24.40.5.
Following Belmont's lead runners were
Sam Shuman and
Max Malloy, both coming in under the 25 minute mark.
Junior
Drew Brill and Freshman
Noah Mathews finished in the top 100.
As freshmen, both Malloy and Mathews—as well as
Charley Townsend and
Aaron Richter (running unattached)—were first-timers at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park this weekend.
