Men's Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Georgia Tech

Bruins Head to Atlanta for Yellow Jacket Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Bruins will open the 2026 outdoor season this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. At the meet, hosted by Georgia Tech, they'll have the chance to compete against top Southeast Regional talent, including Auburn, Georgia, and Missouri.

Belmont wrapped up the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships finishing in eighth place overall, with several top-8 finishes including a school record-breaking run in the men's DMR.

Coach Cameron Harvey speaks on the transition from indoor season to outdoor season, saying, "It's nice to be practicing in the afternoons again, outside, getting used to having wind at your face and wind at your back. Wind variables are always a big thing for outdoor season, and its just nice to train on a larger track so we're able to run full turns and full straightaways. [Outdoor training] is really harping on those max velocity techniques and those sprint techniques, because we're going to be able to use that a little bit more than we can with our indoor track."

"We're going to have a handful of guys in the 1500m. I'm really excited to see what Reuben and Otto [Aaron Richter] can do," says Men's Distance Coach Jeff Langdon. "And then we're going to have a handful of guys in the steeple chase. A few of those guys, they're kind of running it just to get used to hurdles and water jumps before Raleigh; just kind of getting their, no put intended, feet wet. The steeple is one of those events where you've got to get used to hurdling again before a big race so we're excited to see how those guys do."

Events will take place at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility, with competition kicking off at 10:30 a.m. CST on Friday, March 20 with the hammer throw. Running events kick off at 5 p.m. with the 100m and 110m hurdles.

Friday competition finishes with two sections of the 5000m at 7:30 p.m. CST

On Saturday, field event competitions begin at 11 a.m. Day two running events commence shortly after at noon, starting with the 4x100m relay.

The Yellow Jacket Invite concludes at 2:30 p.m. with the women's and men's 4x400m relay.

Live results will be available online via PrimeTime Timing. The meet will not be streamed.
