NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Finishing up its second meet of the 2024 season, the Belmont University men's track and field team completed the Vanderbilt Invitational with another great showing on Saturday.
Beginning in the mile, Carter Cheeseman broke his own record set at the Commodore Challenge last week with a time of 4:03.81. Cheesman, who finished in second place, was closely followed by Kevin Vanderkolk who claimed third in 4:03.87. Both Bruins topped the previous record time time of 4:06.30.
Reuben Macdonald also ran, finishing in 4:21.81.
In the open shot put, Jackson Grant claimed the victory with a heave of 16.03m. Lleyton Penn threw 14.22m.
In the first round of the 60m dash, Jayce Gray ran 6.91, while Tezz Dozier ran 7.17 as Dailin Siggers ran 7.31.
Morgan Lewis ran 50.43 while Rodney Bryant clocked 52.26.
Four Bruins ran in the 800m. Joel Wolf finished in 1:56.24, while Gavin Morrow finished in 1:56.40.
Daniel Ahearn crossed the line in 1:59.26 while Garrett Hesselgesser ran 1:59.91.
Jack Zettl timed 8:27.58 in the 3000m, while Drew Brill finished in 8:35.46 and Nathan Katic finished in 8:45.93.

The Bruins will have one week off before returning to action on Friday, Feb. 2 at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.Â
