Women's Track & Field Second After Day Two of MVC Outdoor Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - Belmont University women's track & field continued its trek towards a MVC Championship with more strong performances on Saturday at the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships from the Gibson Track & Field Complex on the campus of Indiana State University.

The Bruins earned three podium finishes on Saturday - including an individual event victory in the shot put - to stand in second place overall with 74 points.

Emma García Palencia got onto the podium in the Heptathlon, placing third. She finished first in the javelin and second in the 800m on her way to the podium.

Rebekah Stucker and Logan Gray dominated the podium in the shot put, earning first and second, respectively. Kiersten Roy also tallied a personal-best mark.

Finishing with a blistering fast time in the 800m prelims, Alexa Fortman ran a 2:09.98, breaking her own school record.

Katie Flaherty ran a season-best time in the 3000m Steeplechase, running an 11:11.51.

The Bruins sit in second place in the team standings heading into the final day of the meet on Sunday.
