NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's track & field braved the elements and delivered numerous strong performances this weekend at the Outdoor Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University.

With Mother Nature impacting event schedules and locations, the Bruins managed record-breaking efforts and season-best times and marks.

Belmont was headlined by distance runner
Matty Mackay, who shattered the school record in the 3000m in 8:22:10 to place second in a deep field. Mackay's time eclipsed a Belmont record which had stood over 12 years.

Kevin Vanderkolk won the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 8:58:01 to keep him on form for conference top billing.

Morgan Lewis provided another Belmont bright spot, posting a personal-best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.29.

Belmont nearly swept the pole vault, going 2-3-4 behind
Jack Perry,
Aidan Dinsbeer, and
Payton Culp, respectively. The pole vault was held indoors due to weather.

Other notable finishes included
Nick Mota placing second in the 5000m in a time of 14:02.03; Mota stands third in the conference standings with his season-best time.

Kyle Garratt posted a personal-best mark of 46.34m in the hammer throw.
Â
Trey Collins achieved a personal-best mark in the high jump.
Â
Noah Epker followed Vanderkolk's lead with a personal standard in the 3000m steeplechase.
Â
Joel Wolf contributed well in the 800m and 1500m.

Belmont returns to action May 17-18 in the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships.
