1994 Belmont softball laid the foundation to the present national successes enjoyed under head coach Laura Matthews.

In just the third season in program history, Belmont won the Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference (TCAC) championship and District 24 championship en route to the 1994 NAIA College World Series.

The then-Rebelettes squared off with the likes of future NCAA Division I programs North Alabama, Southern Indiana, Evansville, and Kennesaw State, as well as NAIA National Champion West Florida.

Belmont went a program-best 42-5, leading the nation in earned run average (0.72). The team featured four NAIA National All-Americans in April Faircloth, Crystal Nelson, Kim Stanfill, and Sherri Wright.
