One of the founding fathers of Belmont Basketball, Eddie Greer lettered in men’s basketball for Belmont from 1955 to 1958.

Coming to Belmont after leading Nashville West High School to a state championship in 1954, Greer was named team captain twice and was an important trailblazer in the development of the men’s basketball program under Coach Striplin and Coach Kelley.

An exceedingly skilled big man with great touch and passing ability, Greer led the Rebels to a 34-19 record in his first two seasons.

Gregarious and caring, Greer went on to serve as basketball coach at nearby Hillsboro and Hendersonville High Schools.
