After transferring from Central Michigan in 1992, Sherri Wright Dickens became one of the most dominating softball player to ever play at Belmont and helped power the fledgling program to national prominence.

She dominated opponents from the mound and terrorized pitchers from the batter’s box. The 1993 team posted an incredible 37-5 record and took the TCAC by storm, running off 26 consecutive wins at one point during the season. Sherri posted a 17-3 record, including two perfect games, five no-hitters, and ten shutouts to became Belmont’s first, First Team All-American by leading the NAIA with a batting mark of .602 as well as leading in strikeouts per 7 innings ration as a pitcher with a commanding 91.76. 

She placed in the top 10 of nearly every offensive and pitching category and received her second consecutive TCAC Player of the Year honor. The Nashville native finished in the nation’s top five in batting average each of her three seasons at Belmont.

Wright led Belmont to three straight TCAC titles and was named Conference MVP in 1991, 1993, and 1994. In her three-year career, Wright compiled a record of 52-7 with 490 strikeouts while blasting 34 home runs. Belmont’s record books clearly prove that Sherri Wright remains one of the most dominant softball player in Belmont’s history.
