Jerry Bell was a two-sport athlete (men’s basketball, baseball) for Belmont from 1965-67.

A product of DuPont High School in Old Hickory, Tenn., Bell had 14 career double figure scoring games in basketball, but the diamond was Bell's true playground.

An All-VSAC performer, he was drafted in the second round by then Seattle Pilots (now Milwaukee Brewers) in 1969 and became the first Belmont baseball player to reach the Major Leagues. In four seasons with the Brewers, Bell compiled a 17-11 record with a career 3.28 ERA.

Bell returned to the area to serve as a private instructor. He also served as a pitching coach for the Nashville Outlaws of the Prospect League.
