Sandra Smallwood came to Belmont following her two-year stay at Volunteer State Community College where she was a two-time Junior College All-American.  She continued her dominance on the hardwood by earning two more All-American honors while at Belmont.  A pure shooter – prior to the three point shot – Sandra is one of 32 1,000 point scorers in Belmont history, and her 21.2 points-per-game average during her senior season is fourth-best in school history.

A relentless one-on-one, hard-nosed player, Smallwood could beat you with the drive for a lay-up or a pull-up jumper. Smallwood was a defensive player’s worst nightmare.

Smallwood is remembered as one of the all-time greats at Belmont. Smallwood was named to the All-Striplin Gymnasium team in 2001.

Following her successful career at Belmont, Smallwood went on to play in the Women’s Professional Basketball League with the New Orleans Pride and was named to the All-Star Team during her first season.

An all-round athlete, Smallwood also played one year for the women’s tennis team.
