Bernard Childress played basketball for Belmont from 1974-1978 and was one of the program’s top scorers.
 
Regarded as one of Coach Ken Sidwell's top recruits, Childress was a versatile wing player who could take over games.
 
After missing a season due to injury, Childress erupted as a senior, averaging 22.9 points per game to finish his career with 1,580 points. His 17.5 points per game career average ranks eighth all-time.

A three-time All-VSAC performer and named to the All-Striplin Gymnasium Team, Childress has gone on to an exemplary professional career.
