Ricardo Patton was a Nashville native who came from the famous Hume Fogg School and began his college career at John C. Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Ala.

His basketball prowess earned him a spot on the Belmont roster where he developed into one of the most explosive guards the Bruins have ever had. While the team battled for victories, Patton was able to shine some light on the program with his tremendous athleticism. He was a pure scorer who knew how to create separation on offense and was able join the 1,000-point club, finishing his time at Belmont with 1,018 career points.

He was also a ruthless defender who was able to use his speed to get in position. Patton would garner All-American honors during his senior campaign and left his mark as a top-tier athlete for Belmont.

Since hanging up his jersey, Patton became a successful head coach, leading the Colorado Buffalos and the Northern Illinois Huskies for a combined 15 seasons. Patton combined for five postseason bids to the NIT and NCAA Tournament during his time at Colorado.

After coaching stints at Maryland Eastern Shore, Central High School and the University of Denver, Patton returned to Nashville to become a senior advisor to the head coach with Vanderbilt's basketball program for the 2019-20 season.
