In just two seasons with Belmont, Greg Trace lit up the baseball diamond, hitting a school-record .451 during his senior campaign.  Trace's career batting average of .408 is one of those school records that appear to have some staying power.  Greg, a Battle Ground Academy graduate, was a catcher and designated hitting after transferring to Belmont from Columbia State Community College.

Only two Belmont players had ever hit above .400 for their career.  Trace also posted two of the highest single seasons hit totals in Belmont history and he drove in 54 runs each season.  His .667 slugging percentage was nearly 70 points higher than the next best mark.

Trace graduated from Belmont in 1987 and earned master's degrees from both Middle Tennessee and Massachusetts.

Trace was the Rehabilitation Director at West Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center and currently resides in Jacksonville with his wife Vickie, also a 1987 Belmont grad.  Greg and Vickie have three grown sons; Taylor, Trevor and Travis.
