Charlie Meisel played both basketball and baseball at Belmont from 1963-1967, but he made his biggest impact on the hardwood.  A four-year starter, he earned All-VSAC honors twice and was the VSAC Western Division MVP in 1966.

Among Meisel's notable individual performances, he poured in a career-high 41 points against Middle Tennessee State in 1966. Meisel also led Belmont in scoring the day the Rebels stunned Western Kentucky in Bowling Green in 1964, just the second year of Diddle Arena.

A native of Smiths Grove, Ky., Meisel is 17th in career scoring with 1,636 points and ranks in the top 10 in two career statistical categories: .833 career free throw percentage (4th) and 474 career free throws made (T5th). He also scored the first basket in Striplin Gymnasium versus Lipscomb on December 4, 1965. In 2001, he was named to the All-Striplin Gymnasium team.
