Dwight Bernard played baseball for Belmont from 1971-1974. 

He was named District Player of the Year in 1974. He currently ranks second in school history in earned run average at 2.18 and is one of two players in Belmont Baseball history to hold a perfect career winning percentage in a season with an 8-0 record (eight decisions minimum). His 234 career strikeouts are the sixth-most in program history. 
 
In 1974, Bernard was drafted by the New York Mets in the second round and later pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1982 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. 
 
Bernard became a pitching coach in the Seattle Mariners farm system, starting with working for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers in 2006. After serving as the pitching coach of the Class-A Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League, Bernard joined the San Francisco Giants' farm system as a pitching coach for the Sacramento River Cats and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
