Burtner stands among the all-time great men’s basketball players in Belmont history.

The 6-6 forward helped the Bruins navigate treacherous waters during their early NCAA Division I years as an independent and laid the foundation for Belmont’s championship and NCAA Tournament glory.

Known for his outside shooting prowess, Burtner ranks among Belmont’s career leaders in virtually every offensive category. His 1,833 points and 326 three-point field goals stood as the Bruins’ NCAA standard for over a decade until eclipsed by All-American Ian Clark in 2013.

Named Second Team All-Atlantic Sun as a senior, Burtner was a two-time Academic All-America selection and the 2002 National Student-Athlete of the Year by CollegeInsider.com
